This is another
Craig's list tool purchase. I bought this little guy on October
6th 2006 for $50.00 over in Rhode Island. This is a 10" saw that
is unique in the way the top raises and lowers and not the
blade. To cut angles the top also tilts to the right. This is
not the very best design, but I can live with it for a nice
piece of heavy iron in my shop. We had to remove the motor and
the top in order to get it into my wife's van due to the weight.
The saw came with the miter gauge and the rip fence. The rip
fence is very nice and has a micro adjuster for fine
adjustments. My plans are a full refurb and a new extension
panel. The base will be replaced with a roll around cabinet and
I want to work a router into the design. The router may go on
the left to offset the weight of the right extension table, but
this is still in the works. All I have done to this point is to
rewire it properly and swap in a 3450 rpm motor and set the
arbor speed to 3105 with pulleys. I may put it back to a 1750rpm
motor with the suggested 5" pulley as I have a 3/4hp motor I can
use for this, but for now it works well.

Well, the rip fence is pretty much done, I still have to refurb
the micro adjuster knob and install the 1/2" MDF on each side of
the fence but it is good to have it back on the saw. The next
project is to rebuild the RT extension, polish the rails and
clean the top. I may even paint the top as needed, but that may
wait until the stand is done. |
